Princes Golf Club Sandwich Bay Sandwich, Kent, CT13 9QB Tel: 01304 611118 Founded in 1906 Prince’s consists of three nine hole courses of championship quality. These courses were constructed in 1949 following the devastation of the old Open Championship course during the war. With gentle sand dunes Prince’s is not as overwhelming as neighbouring Royal St. George’s. The Open Championship was held here in 2003, for the 13 th time – more than any other English club. Chestfield Golf Club 103 Chestfield Road Whitstable, Kent, CT5 3LU Tel: 01227 794411 The beautiful club house dates from the 15 th Century and the golf course has been updated by Donald Steel. The 1 st and the 18 th are very attractive holes, although the most challenging holes are on Shrub Hill. 18 holes 6208 yards par 70 Approximately 10 miles from the Evenhill. St. Augustines Golf Club Cottington Road Cliffsend Ramsgate, Kent, CT12 5JN Tel: 01843 590333 A parkland golf course intersected by drainage ditches, but close enough to the sea to be exposed to the wind. 18 holes 5197 yards par 69 Approximately 12 miles from the Evenhill. Westgate and Birchington 176 Canterbury Road Westgate-on-Sea, Kent, CT8 8LT Tel: 01843 831115 A seaside golf course that requires skill to overcome the design of the course, especially in the wind. 18 holes 4889 yards par 64 Approximately 13 miles from the Evenhill. North Foreland Golf Club Convent Road Broadstairs, Kent, CT10 3PU Tel: 01843 862140 This is a tough golf course on high ground overlooking the sea. The 8 th, 17 th and 18 th are particularly demanding 450 yard uphill holes and two of the short holes, the 14 th and 16 th, are very attractive, playing towards the sea. 18 holes 6430 yards par 71 Approximately 17 miles from the Evenhill. |
